- What it Feels Like For a Girl (from Music)
- American Life, Nothing Fails & Love Profusion (from American Life)
- Get Together & Jump (from Confessions on a Dancefloor)
- Give it 2 Me (from Hard Candy)
I’m very surprised about the chosen track list; whilst I think it may be a pretty solid list, including many of her early hits including all of the singles from her debut album; I feel that many notable works including Erotica and Ray of Light have been very under-represented especially the omission of Deeper and Deeper. I also feel that her more “current” tracks like American Life and Give It 2 Me should have been included in place of random tracks such as Miles Away…

The single, Celebration, a collaborative effort from Madonna and Paul Oakenfold is released on the 14th September in the UK.
Oh, and HAPPY 51ST BIRTHDAY TO THE QUEEN OF POP! (yesterday!)
***
Other stuff is really just a couple of music things I found on YouTube..
Including Whitney Houston‘s lead single from her album I Look to You, Million Dollar Bill
And a track which the Sugababes were very sad that didn’t make the track list of their still yet-to-be-named seventh studio album, Lincoln Continental. It was written by Ne-Yo and this YouTube video is actually the demo version with Ne-Yo’s vocals.
Enjoy.

Today I watched Marley & Me on the small screen.

I was quite looking forward to this as I intended to see this on the big screen but never did.
Righteo, anyway some background, as most of you know it’s based on a book (Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World’s Worst Dog – written by John Grogan) which tells the true story of John and Jenny Grogan (played by Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston, respectively) and the 13 years they spent with the little misbehaving yellow Labrador retriever Marley.
The film had both laughs and was quite emotional. I did love the montage of all the things that John wrote during his columnist days. The dogs were, as you’d expect, extremely cute! It really makes me want to buy a dog! Maybe not ’til I’m a little older/can support it haha.
So anyway (spoilers if you read on after the jump).

The acting was very good from Wilson, Aniston and Eric Dane (who plays John’s friend Sebastian – and is also a good reason why you should watch it…). The scenes in which Marley was older and the eventual ending was extremely emotional; the lead actors (and the dogs) moved me and showed the emotions/sadness very well without going over the top.
I really wanted to cry… but maybe I’m just too manly?
The children were very good actors too, normally I don’t like little child actors but they did it very well. Especially the eldest child Patrick; when he was watching the old videos, he actually moved me with his tears.
Anyway the overall rating is based on the good acting, fun storyline, emotional ending and the cuteness of the dogs.
I give it a strong 7.5/10
If you like dogs, want a feel good story with lots of emotion then this is a film for you!

On another fun note, I’d like to introduce you to Mini Viva.

I mentioned them a while back. They supported The Saturdays on their Work Tour.
Their new single “I Left My Heart In Tokyo” is out September 6th for download (physical out 7th) and it is very good!
Here’s the fancy video!
They’re a Xenomania act. Xenomania have worked with the likes of the Sugababes, Pet Shop Boys, Alesha Dixon and most pre-dominantly Girls Aloud.
There are number of amazing remixes to this song so look them up/buy them!

First off! Christina Aguilera

Whose been working on her follow-up to Back to Basics!
From this exciting quick telephone conversation to a radio station (click) she speaks about how the project has been progressing!
To summarise:
- They’re currently in the final stages of recording/mastering.
- She discusses working with Sia, Santigold, Ladytron and M.I.A.
- The song titles are interesting.
- There’s something for everyone on the album and she believes that it’s her best yet.
- Also that the album uses her voice differently and shows off her versatility
Other news: She’s also been working with The Dream, Claude Kelly and Tricky Stewart.
Lovely

Some quick Kylie News!
Her official twitter (http://twitter.com/kylietweettweet) tweets somethine pretty exciting! She is possibly working with Calvin Harris AND Jake Shears on a track for her next studio album!

- Working with Jake & Calvin?

Harris contributed Heart Beat Rock on her previous record X; whilst Mr. Shears from the Scissor Sisters has worked with her on her single I Believe In You from her greatest hits: Ultimate Kylie, as well as White Diamond (performed on her homecoming tour/released as a bonus for X); and the track Ooh (The Blues) from the Scissor Sister’s sophomore album Ta-Dah.
Click here for the tweet in question!
This could be potentially amazing!

Here’s the new cover for Nelly Furtado‘s Spanish album: Mi Plan. Out September 29, the single Manos al Aire was released 29th June – it’s amazing!
Beautiful.
- “Manos al Aire”
- “Más”
- “Mi Plan” (featuring Álex Cuba)
- “Sueños” (featuring Alejandro Fernández)
- “Bajo Otra Luz” (featuring Julieta Venegas & La Mala Rodríguez)
- “Vacación”
- “Suficiente Tiempo”
- “Fuerte” (featuring Concha Buika)
- “Silencio” (featuring Josh Groban)
- “Como Lluvia” (featuring Juan Luis Guerra)
- “Feliz Cumpleaños”

Finally, today I bought Kelly Clarkson‘s debut album Thankful, and I must say it was pretty bad. I’ve got all her albums and she’s lucky she was the American Idol winner otherwise she would’ve been dropped! I then re-listened to My December and realised how pretty damn good this understated album is. Although it cannot compare with its predecessor Breakaway. All I Ever Wanted was certainly a return to form!
So now I have ranked them – I know, I know, how exciting!
- Breakaway
- All I Ever Wanted
- My December
- Thankful
Fancy.
Filed under: Film | Tags: Channing Tatum, film review, G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, Sienna Miller

Today I went to see G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra with my friends.
I had a basic idea of the franchise before I saw it and all I really knew about the movie is that it stars Channing Tatum and Sienna Miller starring as Duke and The Baroness, respectively – so it was quite worth it just to see them… It was either this film or seeing The Ugly Truth with Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler – granted I would’ve seen the film solely based on Mr Butler’s presence but we chose G.I. Joe instead!
Anyway, onto the movie itself: I actually really enjoyed the movie! I mean it wasn’t AMAZING but it kept me amused for its entirety of almost 2 hours.
Warning: I may mention some spoilers after the jump!

The probable reason why this movie didn’t give me a numb arse like others did (e.g. Transformers 2) is because there’s so much action going on throughout it!
Normally in action films there’s an amazing action sequence at the beginning, then you have to wait all the way until the end for another amazing fight sequence; but in this film was action sequence there was action sequence, after action sequence, after action sequence! I almost felt tired after watching so much action (mind you, not in a “I’m bored” tired!). I must say the acting wasn’t exactly brilliant but I think I was too busy getting into the action too much to notice anything totally bad about it – it was good but a little patchy.
My favourite parts had to be the fight sequence in the landing bay of G.I. Joe’s headquarters with the faceoff between The Baroness and Scarlett, and Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes; also the chase in Paris when Duke jumps over the train whilst Ripcord crashes through it not realising that the suits could allow them to jump higher! Also,t he special effects throughout the final battle were great!
It was all so obvious that there’s going to be a sequel as it pretty much left a lot of options open for the cast/characters to all return despite their incarceration, “deaths” and them being cured.
So I’ll definitely be in line to see the follow up – especially that the cast are all contracted for the next film!
Overall, I give this film: 7/10
It’s a great and simple introduction into the franchise setting up for further storylines. The effects are brilliant, the gadgets are great and the acting is not too bad.
I also finally bought Marley & Me for the low low price of £10 at ASDA! I shall post a lovely review of that when I get a chance to view it!

Remember my last post about dear Ms. Natalie Imbruglia and how disappointed I was with her latest offering… Wild About It actually not feeling too ‘wild about it’ myself…

Well it seems that the song Want, still off her new album Come to Life is the lead single! Listen to it here:
I think it’s so much better than what I was expecting from this campaign! I’m super excited!
Released September 21st

Oh and next is The Saturdays, just a very quick update on information. Single, Forever Is Over, is currently slated for a 5th October release; whilst their still un-named follow-up album is due for released on the 12th October.
Here’s a fun photo of them:

It’s time for a Sugababes update!
Here are some exciting developments on the album campaign, they’ve previews 2 brand new tracks: “About A Girl” which is RedOne production and their next single. Also “Thank You For the Hearbreak” produced by Stargate.
Get Sexy
About A Girl
It’s certainly much better and instant than “Get Sexy”. I was laughing at the RedOne… Sugababes part, however it was to be expected.
Thank You For the Heartbreak
I do like it, it’s much more disco-tastic!
I can’t wait for the album now!

Today, rumours are flying about that Britney may be performing at this years VMAs or the Teen Choice Awards?

Will she be at this year's VMAs?
Read this article and see if means anything?: Click here
I don’t really think this is going to happen, but seeing as she’s pretty much back on form it might?! It’ll probably be an appearance at the awards show.
If this is true, it will be the first time she will be performing at an awards ceremony in the US since her disappointing “comeback” performance, of her then-single Gimme More, at the 2007 VMAs.
She returned once again in 2008 with her hit single Womanizer which she performed at the Bambi Awards in Germany, Star Academy in France and on the UK show The X Factor. A further perfomance of the aforementioned single and her song Circus was performed on Good Morning America.
Since this she has been on her sell-out worldwide tour The Circus Starring: Britney Spears, her first multi-city tour since the 2004 Onyx Hotel Tour. She is set to return to North America for the Final Act of the tour at the end of the month before she takes her concert to Australia for the first time.
This comes as news after she was nominated for 7 awards in this years ceremony which will be hosted once again by Russell Brand. Surprisingly, despite the amount of nominations she is missing from the Best Female category!
Her nominations include:
For Womanizer:
Video of the Year
Best Pop Video
For Circus:
Best Direction
Best Choreography
Best Cinematography
Best Art Direction
Best Editing

Other news suggests that she might in fact be performing also at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards.
See the advert aired today:
Her Official Site even confirms it:
http://www.britneyspears.com/2009/08/britney-will-perform-at-teen-choice-awards.php
Edit: although it seems they have re-worded the linked entry from “Perform” to “Appear” so let’s wait and see!
Edit Again: apparently a rep for Britney has denied that she will be performing at the Teen Choice Awards but she will be awarded the Ultimate Choice Award for her contribution to music.
Anyway, things are still up in the air! I probably doubt she will perform on either and she’ll just continue touring as normal…!
Filed under: Music | Tags: new album, new single, Robbie Williams, Sugababes, Whitney Houston
That’s the line up for today’s post!
First off it’s Robbie Williams who’s looking to return with his new album “Reality Killed The Video Star”, out November 9th with the preceding single “Bodies” impacting October 12.

This is his first album since his 2006 release “Rudebox” which, despite being a UK number 1 album, failed to sell as much as his previous records. The forthcoming release is also his final original album release from his £80m record deal with EMI. The album and single have been produced by Trevor Horn.
He has also been working with Don Black on the album. Black co-wrote the James Bond themes Thunderball and Diamonds are Forever. Also, Michael Jackson‘s early release Ben. Williams stated that some of the songs on this album have been re-written with Jackson in mind.
Click here for the full original article.
I’m actually pretty excited about this release for some reason. I personally loved Rudebox because it was just really quirky.
Williams described this record:
“[as a mix of the] old Robbie, new Robbie and a Robbie that neither of us have met”.
Also check out instrumental snippets of some album tracks on his Official Website (the trailer). They sound epic.

Next up is Whitney Houston. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with, her previous album release Just Whitney was such a disappointment and she clearly wasn’t “with it” during that era.
Anyway she’s really back with her new album I Look to You is released August 31, 2009 in the UK; however there is no release date for a launch single.
The title track I Look to You has already been released within the US and other territories but there has been no word of a UK release. The track was written by R. Kelly and produced by Harvey Mason Jr. and Chris “Tricky“ Stewart.
Other tracks proposed as singles include the Alicia Keys penned track Million Dollar Bill, produced by Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean; and I Didn’t Know My Own Strength which was written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster.
Houston commented on the themes of the album at the album listening party in London:
“It’s about making the songs last in the hearts of the people. And that’s what we’ll try to do with this album. If you wanna cry, you’ll cry, if you wanna laugh, you can laugh, if it’s make you dance, you’ll dance. ‘Cause that’s what it’s all about…”
Amongst the names already mentioned, she has worked with some big names for this comeback including: Fernando Garibay, Johntá Austin, Stargate, Claude Kelly and Akon (who is the only person to feature on a track on her album).
Here’s the cover & track listing!

I Look to You
1. Million Dollar Bill
2. Nothin’ But Love
3. Call You Tonight
4. I Look to You
5. Like I Never Left (feat. Akon)
6. A Song for You
7. I Didn’t Know My Own Strength
8. Worth it
9. For the Lovers
10. I Got You
11. Salute
12. I Didn’t Know My Own Strength (Remix – iTunes Bonus Track)

Finally, the Sugababes. They have released the Get Sexy track listings and it seems like they won’t be including and new B-Sides. However I’m quite intrigued about the Hadouken! mix.
Just an FYI for people. The “Single Version” is the version which features all of the ‘Babes on the chorus (i.e. the version used on the video) and the “Radio Edit” is the version which only features Amelle singing solely on the chorus.

CD Maxi
1. Get Sexy (single version)
2. Max Sanna and Steve Pitron Mix
3. Bitrocka Remix
4. Superbass Vocal
- PLUS free double sided poster

Howdy folks!
It’s that time again to bring you more thrilling updates on some of my favourite music artists. Now, again most of this should’ve been posted yesterday so it was a little more up-to-date but I was a tad too preoccupied.
But better late than never!
*****
Let’s begin with Mr Will Young who has announced the release of his first Greatest Hits collection. In his Official Newsletter the information is as follows:
Will Young – The Hits
- Evergreen
- Light My Fire
- You & I
- Leave Right Now
- Your Game
- Friday’s Child
- Switch It On
- All Time Love
- Who Am I
- Changes
- Grace
- Let It Go
- Bonus Track 1
- Bonus Track 2
The collection, if you haven’t already gathered, contains the majority of the singles from his four albums: From Now On, Friday’s Child, Keep On & Let It Go; plus 2 brand new tracks. The only singles omitted are Evergreen’s a-side partner Anything Is Possible, The Long & Winding Road (a duet with Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates) and Don’t Let Me Down which was You & I’s other a-side.
He’s been apparently working with Calvin Harris and Groove Armada, possibly on a new album or for the bonus tracks for this hits collection.
I have all of Will’s albums but I never really considered myself a huge fan but I feel the track listing contains a good solid body of work that any artist should be proud of. I did wish Anything Is Possible was included in the track list and that the listing should really be a little mixed up rather than just in a chronological order; if you were to do that I would’ve preferred it to be Present to Past.
***
Next up with have another fun update on the Sugababes (you can almost tell that I actually like these guys…).
Here’s the single cover for their single Get Sexy out on the 31st August.

Plus here’s a better quality version of the video:
Slightly off on a tangent, Tinchy & Amelle‘s single Never Leave You is currently topping the UK iTunes chart and are #1 on the midweek’s (counting both physical and digital sales) at the moment. The biggest contenders so far will be the Black Eyed Peas‘ follow-up single I Gotta Feeling and Madonna‘s Greatest Hits single Celebration which is out in the next few days!
Tinchy Stryder also feels that he’d be up for “returning the favour” to Amelle and working on a new Sugababes’ track as a featured artist if it felt like it was right for him (click here for the full article).
***
Alrighty, now onto The Saturdays.
It’s just a quick one really, but this article (click here) stating that they threatened to go on strike in favour of more break time seems like a load of bulls**t. However, I must say I’m not surprised they seem like they’ve been working non-stop since they’ve started!
Oh and don’t forget to pre-order their 2010 calendar! (here)

Woo now for the legend that is Miss Britney Spears.
I love, love, love this cake that a massive Britney fan got made for their birthday! I wish I got this type of cake made for me..!

There’s still no news on the apparent Greatest Hits/Best Of/Singles Collection she is meant to be releasing which coincides with the final leg of her Circus Tour. Amazon.com has it listed here. (Obviously I don’t count this as real evidence for a release…)
She’s been in the studio with Max Martin during her mainland European stint of the Circus Tour and it seems Fernando Garibay has been working on some new tracks to submit; furthermore Keri Hilson has also mentioned that she may be working on some new tracks for her.
No one actually knows what these tracks are for, whether new tracks for the greatest hits or for a new album??

And talking about the Final Act of the Circus Tour (starring Britney Spears) – which kicks off soon! – I’m wondering whether, with the name change, there will be any significant changes. I mean she has added Mannequin to her set list and has not been performing Touch of My Hand in some of her recent shows. Are these signs of things to come? Will she add new songs? Change songs? Or just change up the costumes? Who knows until she resumes her tour August 20th in Hamilton, Canada!
I would probably like to see more oldies coming back, like Stronger or Overprotected; or perform more Circus tracks (seeing as she’s only performing the singles from it despite it being called “The Circus Tour”) like Out From Under or Kill the Lights. OR even perform Toy Solider from Blackout! I actually wish I could see her again!

Now we’re onto someone new! Natalie Imbruglia.

She releases her fourth album, Come To Life, on October 5th! Here’s the track listing:
- My God
- Lukas
- Fun
- Twenty
- Scars
- Want
- WYUT
- Cameo
- All The Roses
- Wild About It
The new single is Wild About It, out September 28th, and the video is available on the official site or you can watch it on youtube here:
I’m looking forward to what she puts out because I liked Counting Down the Days, Left of the Middle and White Lillies Island. She’s worked with Coldplay on this album and I’m interested to what spin they put on her music. However, I must say I am slightly disappointed with Wild About It. It’s a little bit mundane. I suppose I was expecting another Shiver or Torn or Wrong Impression, but I’ll reserve judgement ‘til I hear the rest of her output.
***
Finally a little quickie on Leona Lewis.

I just wanted to update you on what she’s been doing for her follow-up to the smash Spirit. She’s been working with a hell of a lot of amazing writers and producers including:
Timbaland, Ryan Tedder, Taio Cruz, James Fauntleroy, Danja, Xenomania, Bangladesh, Max Martin, Aqualung, Ina “the 6th Saturday” Wroldsen, Ne-Yo, Claude Kelly, Novel, John Shanks and Will.I.Am.
Good Stuff.
Filed under: Life | Tags: Bob the Builder, family days out, hovercraft, Model Village, pedalos, Portsmouth, Southsea, Summer, Teletubbies, Weather, Winnie the Pooh
Well I didn’t get to update yesterday because I was having such a fun time! The day out seemed like a success with numerous highlights.
Today’s post is gonna be a little different as it’s going in a form of a little photo story, well not even a story, more like number of storbsevations (stories and observations?).
So… the day began with everyone arriving virtually on time (quite a rare feat indeed), but plans hadn’t actually been made on what we were doing..! Anyway, after grabbing a couple of brochures from the library still nothing happened.

The weather was surprisingly really good seeing as the forecast suggested it was going to be overcast with possible rain. But looking at this weather didn’t help decide what we were meant to be doing or where we were meant to be going and by this time our stomachs were clouding judgement with lunch calling.

Lunch was interesting as it was jokingly suggested that we were a (rather dysfunctional) family going on a random day out – I was the father, with two rather noisy kids and a grumpy wife.
After this exciting meal, two ideas had then been suggested: Mini Golfing in some mystery location or going to Southsea. At the end of it Southsea was the choice.

On our way!

We passed Gary on the way...

Arriving @ Portsmouth

Where's the seafront?!
Finally after arriving, the “wife” was far more interested in the plant-life than what we were actually doing. Eventually ending up at an arcade and gambling money away... what a wonderful start to the day!

So after we won and subsequently lost money it was time to do something more interesting than being stuck inside playing on a, probably broken, machine. The question was then: What next?
The Answer…

DUCK!
A Pedalo, a duck pedalo in fact! We did all sorts of fancy manoeuvres and speeds and turns. It was wild!

There were swans also...
Ice Creams were next on the agenda. Who knows when this type of weather would appear? Ahhh British Summer…

Beach-tastic
Next up: a Model Village! It took us over 45 minutes to get round the whole thing. Everything was pretty amusing and hilarious in it. As quoted: “Best £2 I’ve Spent!“.

First off, the gravestones:

They had amusing “engravings” on them, for example:
In Memory of Charlotte:
Born a Virgin
Died a Harlot
For 16 years
She kept her virginity
A wonderful thing
In this vicinity
RIP
This spot is the sweetest I’ve seen in my life
It raises my flowers and covers my wife
This is no time for joking
This one did not give up smoking
Other amusing things included a dog which enjoyed being upside down:

A seagull that was the size of the house’s chimney:

What was more amusing was this village seemed to have some rather unusual residents:

From the Teletubbies, Winnie the Pooh and gang, the characters from the Wind and the Willows, Humpty Dumpty and Bob the Builder who seemed to own a zoo/farm.
Also! Thomas the Tank Engine and his rail-inclined mate James was the local the rail service.

Here is the midwife of the village who “delivers everywhere!”

There was also the Little Folks Middle School whose head mistress was Miss Behavior, the local Green Grocer was owned by Mr R.T. Choke and the Butcher was owned by Ivan Oxen.
All pretty bad puns…
I also found these Gypsies in the back garden of this resident who just simply waved at them, they also seem to own a tram service which goes nowhere.

I also found these exciting signs on our travels! I really wanted a hot dog that day… Advertising works! Granted that the Hot Dog was actually dressing itself to be eaten, kinda a suicidal message of which I doubt anyone actually will notice.

During the day we saw a lot of Wildlife… a totally amazing!

Finally we ended the day having fun by Southsea Castle and at the arcades again, losing yet more money!

Here’s the hovercraft that almost blinded us when it turned around blowing sand and sea water towards us!

During dinner, of chips and burgers/fish/sausages, the weather began getting bad. Ready for the rain that has occurred today! Hooray!

One final thing: According to the brochure we used, the parking is apparently… in the sea?

It was a very good day out overall!

Ps. If you haven’t already got this from the whole post… Southsea is a good place to go for a fancy day out!
